Rocky Bowl Special (RBS) 2014-2015
Welcome to the Rocky Bowl Special (RBS). The Rocky Bowl was designed to enhance the NCAA football college bowl experience by giving all games meaning to everyone. All participants select winners from each bowl game and weight their selections from 1 - 38 and select their winner of the National Championship game. Then just sit back and root for your teams. We hope that this blog site will enable everyone to share their thoughts, insults, brags, cheap shots, Husky slams, Cougar slams, whatever you like...

Oregon goes down in defeat to Ohio State ...
So, then it was over. Oregon falls again to the top team in the country in the first ever College Playoff Championship. And The Championship game decided the 2015 Rocky Bowl champion and shuffled the final Leader Board.
First time Rocky Bowler, Susan "No I's her favorite" Kueffner takes home the top prize, Rocky himself finishes 2nd, but promises to put a little extra into the charity pott, and Juan "Burning Rubber" Flores (aka, "I let my 9 year old son pick em") comes in 3rd place. And of course there is BottomCoug (fka TopCoug) will take home the Toilet seat award. He also looks forward to trading the Toilet Seat award with the Bobbi Breeze trophy with Rocky the next time he is in California.
The final prize payout is being reviewed by the Certified Private Accounting firm of The3C's. It will be posted once approved. The review copy is in the final Master Sheet.
We hope you enjoyed the Rocky Bowl this year and the first ever College Football Playoff system. It's not perfect, but at least the SEC didn't have 2 teams (or Even 1) in the Championship. That's a win in its own right.
Don't forget to look for your invitation to the TopCoug and Rocky Bowl Friends March Madness Challenge. You can try your dumb luck once again.
Sincerely,
The 3 C's

Doofer's provides great venue for Rocky Bowl Party, Rocky wins Bobbi Breeze
Well, the 2014-2015 Rocky Bowl Party at Doofer's in Renton provided a great venue for the annual Rocky Bowl Party. And ...
There is a new Sheriff in town. Rocky wins the Rocky Bowl Bobbi Breeze award for the first time. In nearly 10 years of presenting this award to various Rocky Bowlers, this is the first award with prize $$$ he has earned. "Never a Doubt" as Rocky would say. Congratulations!
And once again the Rocky bowl games did NOT disappoint as Penn State Edged Boston College 31-30 in OT in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl. The kickers decided it. One missed and one made xtra point was the difference.
In the night cap, USC held off a charging Nebraska team 45-42 as "Herbie Husker" looked on with anguish. It was a valiant comeback effort, but it fell short as the USC defense finally made a 4th Quarter stop as interim Nebraska coach Barney Cotton rolled the dice on 4th and 4 instead of opting for 48 yard tying field goal. What did he have to lose? As it turned out nothing except the game. At least he preserved 1352 Rocky Bowl Confidence Points for 52 Rocky Bowlers. That's really all that matters.
Thanks for all that came out to support the Rocky Bowl and enjoy time with Rocky Bowl friends. And the Chicken, Jo's and beer weren't bad either. Rocky Bowl Party Pics.
Good luck the rest of the way and into the FBS playoff Championship.

One Bowler's Rocky Bowl Diary: 2015
-- Anonymous wrote --
December
14th: This is the Year! The Year I make all things right
again! Rockybowl is in turmoil, the new rules changes have our
Commissioners in a Tizzy... but I’m sure they’ll figure it out.
December
15th: Those Commissioners! Wise as Solomon! The “New” format
is out and it’s great. I’ve already started making my picks.
December
16th: Downloaded the Spreadsheet. Sheesh! Whoever made that
thing is an Excel Einstein! The format ISN’T TOO Complicated
December
17th: Found a TEENSY-WEENSY error in the Spreadsheet... Even Einstein can
make a small mistake. Well underway to make my picks. Visiting each
team’s website, reading about injuries, suspensions, game plans... this year,
nothing is keeping me out of the money. I can easily see getting 34 of 38
right!
December
18th: Only three people have filled out their sheets... and I’m pretty
sure at least two were drunk. I mean Kurt picking
Louisiana-Lafayette to beat Nevada with 27 points? I mean... get
serious. Sure UL-L has won three straight, but they’ve never met Nevada...
or such a scoring threat. I guess competition isn’t going to be up to it
this year.
December
19th: My final picks are done. My heart flutters... could I have
make a PERFECT list? 38 of 38? What a Christmas gift!
Winning Bobby Breeze AND the whole Enchilada!
December
20th – 1 AM: Today! Today! Today! I visited a Children’s
Hospital today and promised to donate all my winners from R-Bowl to them... you
should have seen the smiles on their faces! I can’t wait.
December
20th- 8:59 AM: Games start SOOOOOO Early! 9AM Seattle time!
I’ve had so little sleep! I feel like a kid waiting on Santa! Got my
cocoa ready to go!
December
20th: – 1:30 PM: Um. This is a good lesson. We have to deal
with loss in our own way... Nevada failed to “show up” today...
going down. All I can think is that the New Orleans atmosphere and scarlet
women got the team to stay up too late... it was 9AM for their Biological
Clock... I guess football isn’t like the Army... where they get all their work
done by 7AM then lounge around all day.
December
20th – 10PM: What a roller-coaster day! Southern Alabama – which is
like the JV team for the SEC – failed to take out Bowling Green. Isn’t a
“Bowling Green” where pins get knocked down? BG is part of the MAC...
which isn’t even a real football conference. Southern Alabama has the word
“ALABAMA” in the name... I mean... how can they lose? Can someone explain
this to me? Do you think the Ref’s could be in on this?
December
21st – Morning: Dear Diary... what a fitful night of sleep. Two
losses! Well, I could still get 36 of 38! I have to look on the
bright side... I mean, every situation has too sides... the Bright Side and the
side I’d rather not think about... Today is a good day! Tony Manzell
(Johhny Football!) is starting for the Browns today... no Rockybowl today... but
the wins just keep coming in starting tomorrow!
December
21st – Afternoon: Ran into Steve Long (MR ROCKYBOWL) at WholeFoods
today... we both reached for the Organic Kale and our hands touched!!!
WholeFoods was pretty empty.... The Seahawks were playing! At least
Steve didn’t smell of legal pot or anything... perhaps it was two-day old AXE
spray! He tells me that the numbers are WAYYYYYYY down this year... only
60 participants... about HALF of what we were expecting... That means the Prize
Money will be smaller... the KIDS will be so disappointed!
December
21st – Evening: 60 People! I guess that means that the Economy is
doing better... I mean.. kids are out of the house, going to college (they Grow
Up sooo fast!)... Keith Kwong didn’t even enter his Dog this year under a false
kid name... I guess that’s good. Didn’t watch the Seahawk game... I
had it taped... but they won by the time I got home... maybe I’ll watch the
Seahawks vs. Dallas in the superbowl! Go Tony! Could we have THREE
Teams in the super bowl...? that Aaron Rogers!
December
22nd – Noon: Had to work and couldn’t enjoy the College games...
Those BYU kids are going to bring the heat today... I mean... they MUST have
seen how Nevada got all twitter-pated in New Orleans... they won’t let South
Beach Miami bother them at all.
December
22nd – 11PM: Freakin Mormons!!! What were they thinking???
Seriously? Just giving up the last 5 minutes of the game and then DOUBLE
OVERTIME.... gave me a DOUBLE HERNIA!!! I was going to go to COMIC CON in
Salt Lake... but not NOW!!! I’m also going to cancel my Deseret News web
subscription (they have the BEST recipes)! I’ll miss that.
Well.. I can still get 34 of 38... that SHOULD be enough to win it all...
the Kids are pulling for me!
December
23rd: What is wrong with San Diego State? It’s a FREAKING HOME
GAME!!! And those Navy guys barely get any sunlight or meat... they’re
officer types... not the kind of “navy” that gets tattoos and work for a
living! The Aztecs are a proud race... they dishonor their
heritage...
December
24th: Stopped by the Hospital after Rice demolished my Fresno State
Bulldogs... the Nurse told me that all the kids were having Chemo or
Surgery all at once. I find that curious. They don’t answer my
texts anymore. A very pleasant Security Guard helped me find my way
out. Tomorrow Louisiana Tech loses to Illinois!!! Can’t
wait. Don’t know why more people didn’t go with Illinois... The
Illini vs Bulldogs...
College bowl calendar takes a timeout in already surprising season
The Rocky Bowl couldn't have asked for a better first wave of games. Once again moments like Central Michigan's near comeback victory against Western Kentucky may have gone unnoticed and unwatched had it not been for the Rocky Bowl. A BYU coach giving a kicker a practice kick on a 54-yard field goal. Of course with a miss followed by a make (Husky fans know the feeling), and a fight for the ages after the game was done. Rocky Bowlers everywhere were rejoicing.
A fight breaks out on the field between the Brigham Young Cougars and the Memphis Tigers after the Miami Beach Bowl on Dec.
Christmas Day marks the deep-breath pause on this year's sprawling 39-game bowl calendar, the rest stop between the New Mexico Bowl and better tomorrows. Monday's inaugural Miami Beach Bowl, which sprang spectacularly out of nowhere during daytime soap opera hours, however, deserves a special round-by-round recap. Memphis over Brigham Young in double overtime, 55-48, set the bar higher than your favorite spaghetti western bar fight.
The postgame melee involving "Mem-fist" and "BrawlYU" was shocking on many fronts. You can argue over which school started it, but both teams finished it. There were stomach punches and sucker punches. One player used his helmet like nunchucks. Rocky Bowl commissioners praised the actions that brought true toughness and brashness to forefront in college football and football in general.
Rocky Long, commissioner for the Rocky Bowl Playoff Special, issued supporting statement on behalf of Rocky Bowlers. "Needless to say, we are extremely excited this happened, as we expect the highest standard of toughness and poor sportsmanship from our student-athletes," Long said.
"We expect nothing less of our athletes, in the face of a difficult loss,"Doug "Duke Daddy" Gregory. "We intend to fully review this matter and reward those involved who have made BYU Cougar Nation proud."
Bowling forward, let's set up the tale of the tape for this year's Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl games.
Next Thursday marks the first ever RBS playoff games where the confidence points won on the games carry forward to the National Championship game.
"Rocky Bowlers that were bold and confident will end up with a Extra Points Possible Bonus if they choose the correct winner of the National Championship game. As we envisioned in our all-day lockout, many bowlers have placed max points on these games, nearly split 50-50 between Oregon and Alabama and at least 10 bowlers with a chance at big upset with points on Florida State and Ohio State. It guarantees an exciting finish to the Rocky Bowl. And Rocky Bowlers agree with a unanimous vote in favor of the new format", announced Jim "TopCoug" Stafford.
Merry Christmas everyone. Enjoy the rest of the ride.

Welcome all, Rocky Bowl Party Announced ...
Rockybowlers,
The Rocky Bowl Party has been revived, let the party begin.
We want to thank all of the participants this year and I will take all of the blame for the smaller turnout. I assumed the RB address book was up to date from last year and by assuming, it made an ass out of me. Many of the Rockybowler's were not on the list and did not receive our invitations, several even being relatives and long time players. This will be corrected for next year and we will once again reach huge numbers. (Commissioner Jim says that any Rocky Bowler worth their salt would know where to find us. It's no secret, http://rockybowl.com, @rockybowl on Twitter and Facebook. Come on Man ...)
We may have to change some of the payouts but the first two positions will reap their full rewards. (The commissions are meeting to determine what is the best way to distribute the money, and still have a fund for the charity which is Special Olympics this year. This was a request from a long time Rocky Bowler who is playing from heaven this year, Nira "Sis" Smith. We will also be accepting additional donation to try and reach our $600 goal again this year.
But, for the first time ever I have some early optimism with my picks and will be definitely in the hunt for the Bobby Breeze trophy which will be awarded at the Rocky Bowl Party this coming Saturday.
The Master Spreadsheet has been updated and corrected with a few mistakes. One more day it will be final. But, the Leader Board is live.
16430 SE 128th Street
Renton, WA
The commissioners will be there from 4:00 to whenever and will host a few pitchers of beer and plates of boasted chicken, but please be prepared for this party to be a non-hosted event. There are plenty of televisions to watch all of the games and we look forward to see new and old friends as well.
Please if you would reply if you will be attending as we will be securing a private area for all of us.
You may have seen this announcement on twitter but I will continue to duplicate the twitter replies and I know many do not tweet, or twit, or whatever.
Go Western Kentucky!
I wonder what state this team is from?

The Rocky Bowl Party has been revived, let the party begin.
Well, the commissioners have been very quiet so far this year and many of our friends are wondering if the we have been in deep conference negotiating with CBS on taking the Rocky Bowl global. Well we can not speak of this, but we are out of the conference room and back to the greatest bowl contest in the world, The Rocky Bowl.
We want to thank all of the participants this year and I will take all of the blame for the smaller turnout. Rocky Bowl Kickoff Blog ...
It’s that time again Rocky Bowlers,
First order of business: If you would like to unsubscribe to
the Rocky Bowl emails, please reply with
“Delete”, if you would like to use another email address please reply “new
email”, if you would like to add
someone, please reply with “Please Add <insert email address here>”. For a copy of Rockybowl for Dummies - Lesson
one, please refer to Blog site at http://rockybowl2015.blogspot.com.
Now after all of the technical jargon, the Three Wise Men
welcome the new, the past, the young and the old Rocky Bowlers back for
another great year.
The format has been updated to work with the new “College Football Playoff” system put into place this year by the rocket scientists and politicians at the NCAA. To top it off, there is now a grand total of 38 bowl games this year to evaluate, prognosticate the and apply confidence points to your projected bowl game winners.
The added twist is
an extra game to select called the “AT&T Championship”. Read on …
The commissioners deliberated long and hard on the format to
choose; but in the end, it was 2 guiding principles that determined the format:
1)
Confidence points should be included to ensure
the spirit of the Rocky Bowl is met.
2)
The Semi-Final and AT&T Championship game should
influence the Rocky Bowl Champion by adding bonus for those confident to put
big points on these games.
So, your confidence points that you apply to the winner of
the two semi-final games (Rose and Sugar Bowls) can provide you an added
bonus. Your Team selections and confidence points
will be carried forward to the AT&T Championship game. You will then have a chance to double those
points for the team you pick to win the Championship. For example, if you
select Alabama to win the Sugar Bowl with 1 Point confidence, and you pick them
to beat Oregon you will have a chance to earn a whopping 1 bonus point. However, if you select Oregon to win the Rose
Bowl with 38 points confidence, and you pick them to win the Championship, you
will have a chance to earn 38 bonus points.
For you Rocky Bowl veterans, this boils down to one simple
data point. Do you want to start the
2014-2015 Rocky Bowl with a “Points Possible” of 741 + 1 = 742, or a “Points
Possible” of 741 + 38 = 779. The bottom
line, “How confident are you”?
The new and improved selection sheet will guide you through this new process
if you read it. If you don’t read it and
you fill it out incorrectly, your entry could be disqualified. So read it! And follow the instructions!!! That includes FILLING-IN YOUR NAME ON YOUR ENTRY FORM BEFORE YOU SUBMIT it via email to rockybowl@live.com.
If you have been a Rocky Bowler in the past, you understand
it is not so easy. And this format makes it even a bit harder, but we hope that
it will add an interesting twist to the competition this year in line with the
new College Football Playoff system. If
you’re new to the Rocky Bowl, then you will find out in a year or two that this
whole Rocky Bowl thing is entirely luck for some and true skill for others.
You can find the Selection Sheet in the left column of this
blog under "Rocky Bowl Selection Sheet ". Clicking, downloading, reading and following instructions
is your first step to your chance for big fun and winnings. We will continue with a $20 entry fee. Remember,
all entries and $$$ must be received prior to the start time of first game.
8:00am PT, Dec 20.
Please use Rockybowl@live.com for all communications and for returning entry sheets.

Once again we will pay out $1,380.00 in prize money and the
balance after minimal expenses for the Rocky Bowl party will go to charity. (We
are hoping to reach $600.00 for charity again). The Special Olympics will be the Rockybowl
Charity this year as requested by our past Rocky Bowler,
Nira “Sis" Smith. Last year the Rocky Bowl donated $600.00 to “The Children’s Institute”. We thank you all for enabling our donations each year.

Reminder, Rocky Bowlers can enjoy the latest in the internet
and social media craze and follow @rockybowl on Twitter (http://twitter.com/rockybowl),
Facebook (Friends of Rocky Bowl) and

sheets and access to the blog at http://rockybowl2015.blogspot.com.
The three wise commissioners are unsure of where or what
format the "Rockybowl Party "will be this year as the past location has been
sold. We are open to any and all
suggestions. The date for the party will
be Saturday, December 27.
The commissioners hope that each and every one of you enjoys watching and caring about all 38 meaningless game. In addition, please participate in the Blog and let us know if you have a blog to post. We can do it for you if you are too scared or shy.
Happy Holidays and Good Bowling,
